Hey Bas, any tips on working through shin splints. My shins give out before my legs and restrict my cardio.
I know they will adapt but I'm impatient. Beach seasons coming soon out here.

Ah ha. Shin splints. I have experienced your pain. These can require some extra recovery time if they get too bad. However, assuming you can still walk, you might consider switching up your cardio for a day or two. Try doing the bike or cross trainer as they reduce the amount of sudden impact tension on the muscle fibers.

Also, you can ice your shins at night to reduce inflamation and speed recovery.

That's essentially what I was suggesting. Mixing it up helps with reducing muscle and joint strain. Just remember that if you want a similar effect you will need to push for those interval training moments of peak heart rate. In other words, whatever exercise you choose, speed up and slow down, speed up and slow down etc.

This is where you will find an increase in fat burning without reducing muscle tone.
